1. What is the UltraFast CrossTrainer®?
It is our brand of a ROM machine. By working your muscles through a high range of motion (ROM) you are challenged to an efficient workout that includes cardio, strength, and flexibility training. The workout is based on the concept of high intensity interval training (HIIT).
2. Who makes the UltraFast CrossTrainer®?
The machine is made by Regal Stephah, LLC. Please see the About Us page for more information about Regal Stephah, LLC.
For some individuals our ROM machine may actually improve their shoulder, knee, or back problems. Often shoulder and knee issues are a result of a lack of stability in the joint. By improving the muscles around the joint some stability may be restored and the pain may be reduced or eliminated. Additionally, the lower body workout is a very low impact activity, which is the type of activity recommended for individuals with knee pain. The machine may also help people with back problems. The upper body workout stretches and strengthens the back muscles, which may help alleviate some of the back pain. If you are experiencing orthopedic issues, please visit your doctor prior to using the UltraFast CrossTrainer®.
4. Are there any size limitations for the machine?
Yes, you should be between the heights of 4’10" and 6’5" to be able to fully utilize our ROM machine. However, if you would like a machine customized for a certain size please contact us for a quote.
5. How have you tested the durability of the UltraFast CrossTrainer®?
The UltraFast CrossTrainer® ROM machine is a very robust piece of exercise equipment. We performed life cycle testing in accordance with the endurance loading requirements of the standard specification for fitness equipment, ASTM F2276. During the testing the machine was subjected to the equivalent of more than 8000 workouts (~15 years of residential use). During the testing, the UltraFast CrossTrainer® experienced no significant issues.
6. How long have you been selling the UltraFast CrossTrainer®?
We sold our first machine in August 2008.
7. How does the price compare?
The price for the "ROM Time Machine" by Romfab is $14,615; the price for the UltraFast CrossTrainer® is $9,495.
First, we do not spend much on advertising. You’ll frequently see "ROM Time Machine" advertisements in Forbes, airline flight magazines, and Popular Mechanics to name a few. Our main advertising is via the internet. Secondly, our overhead expenses are very low. By maintaining low expenses in these two areas, we are able to pass these savings on to our customers.
The function of the two products is virtually identical. The range of motion of the two machines is the same as is the variable resistance mechanism. Therefore, a four minute workout on the UltraFast CrossTrainer® is the same as a four minute workout on the "ROM Time Machine". The main differences between the two products are cosmetic. Upon close observation some differences can be seen in the shape of the frame. Also, the finish of the silver colored components is different between the two products. For these components a metallic silver colored powder coating is generally used on the UltraFast CrossTrainer® whereas the Romfab product uses polished chrome plating. Powder coating is a very durable finish commonly used on many types of products. In fact, Romfab uses powder coating, as do we, on their black colored components. In summary, the similarities and differences can be simply stated that the UltraFast CrossTrainer® is functionally equivalent to the "ROM Time Machine" with some cosmetic differences.
The workouts from both ROM machines are equally challenging. While no studies have been performed, the benefits obtained from working out on the UltraFast CrossTrainer® should be the same as the benefits from working out on the "ROM Time Machine".
The products are very similar in size, and they both require the same amount of space when in use.
Both products come with a 5 year parts warranty.
13. Why is the workout only 4 minutes? If 4 minutes is so beneficial, wouldn’t 8 minutes be better?
When ROM machine exercise technology was developed in the 1980’s, the developers performed studies with different types of athletes. Based on those studies, four minutes was determined to be the optimal time for the workout on the machine. You can use the machine for longer periods of time, but the additional benefit will be marginal.
14. I am out of shape. Will the UltraFast CrossTrainer® ROM machine be too difficult for me?
Our ROM machine will be a great way to help you get back in to shape. Since the resistance mechanism is variable based on the fitness level of the user, anyone from a world class athlete to an out of shape middle aged person to a senior citizen can enjoy a great workout with the UltraFast CrossTrainer®.
15. Is the workout on the UltraFast Crosstrainer® ROM machine the only exercise that I need?
The answer depends on how much exercise you want. For the typical non-exerciser, our ROM machine when used on a regular basis will significantly improve a person’s fitness level. For the avid runner, the machine will provide an excellent strength and flexibility workout while allowing her to possibly reduce the length of her daily runs. For the avid weightlifter, the machine will provide an excellent cardio and flexibility workout while allowing him to possibly reduce the number of sets or reps of his daily routine. For the general workout enthusiast, the machine will reduce the length of his overall workout.
16. Is the workout on the UltraFast CrossTrainer® ROM machine aerobic or anaerobic?
The workout is actually both. The first two minutes are aerobic. And, if you are pushing yourself properly during those first two minutes, the demand for oxygen within your body will create an anaerobic workout for the last two minutes.
17. What muscles groups are used during a workout on the UltraFast CrossTrainer® ROM machine?
During the upper body workout the following muscle groups are exercised: abdominal, back, chest, triceps, biceps, and forearms. During the lower body workout the following muscle groups are exercised: quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves.
18. What is your workout recommendation?
The answer depends on what your fitness objectives are. If you are simply looking to obtain some good general conditioning, we recommend using the UltraFast CrossTrainer® daily for four minutes, alternating your daily workouts between the upper body station and the lower body station. Take one or two days a week as rest days. If you are a high performance athlete you’ll need to determine the best way to incorporate our ROM machine into your workout routine to reduce your overall workout time while maintaining or increasing the benefits.
19. How can I tell if the UltraFast CrossTrainer® ROM machine is improving my conditioning?
The best way to determine how the UltraFast CrossTrainer® is improving your conditioning is by benchmarking. Prior to working out on our ROM machine on a regular basis you should perform a fitness assessment to quantify your conditioning. To perform an assessment, simply see how many sit-ups you can do in one minute or how many push-ups you can do in one minute or both. You could see how much time it takes to run a certain distance such as a mile or 1.5 miles. Then, repeat the assessment after you have used the machine for 6 weeks.
In addition to the fitness assessment, the machine has a computer that will display a score at the end of each workout. As your condition improves, this score will increase.
